I love days like this, when I can just sit back and relax and not have to drudge through episodes that I know I’m going to hate watching. Ok well maybe there’s one that I was sorta worried about but that’s it. still it’s better than previous days.
Ikoku Meiro no Croisée – Week Three

The arrows represent all the places where a rapist is watching you from.
After three weeks of watching this show, I am still amazed at how the twenty minutes that it takes to complete an episode goes by so quickly. It seems like there is so little in an episode, and at the end I just want more. It’s a pleasant, yet frustrating part of watching anime weekly instead of having the luxury of a complete series DVD set.

So what have we learned in this week’s episode? Well we finally got a glimpse of the two missing female characters of the show, Alice and Camille, even if only for a short period of time. They haven’t been introduced to any of the other characters yet. All we get is one little scene with them in, presumably, a bedroom. We also learn that one of them (I’m guessing Alice, though I could be wrong) happens to be in the same family that owns the Department Store. And she gets into a hissy fit when her family gives her the Gallerie instead of the Department Store as a present, saying that the Gallerie would be more profitable if they tore the whole place down and built a hotel.

Why do I see "Grand Margarine" when I look at this?
I have a feeling I may not like this character for a while.
No appearance of the loveable little street urchin, though doubtless he’ll be making more appearances as time rolls on. My final thoughts at the end of week three is that since I seem to be anticipating each new episode with open arms, I’m going to be continuing the show past this week. What about you? What are your thoughts on Ikoku Meiro no Croisée? Post in the comments below!

See now this reminds me of the original movie.
So after checking up on the internet to see what the general consensus is about this show, I have come to a conclusion. If you’ve watched this show, you’re either of the mind that it should be a straight action show and cut out all the schoolgirl filler, or on the other side saying that no one should be bashing the show because it has “potential” regardless of its double genre attempt at a show.

Cut the peppers into pieces, this is my last taco...
Here’s my thought. Potential is great, and I agree this show has a lot of it. But unless you do anything with said potential, it’s all just wasted.

My eyes are red, it's serious business time.
After episode three, all I’m left with is questions. 1) Is Saya actually a vampire in this iteration? Because we honestly don’t know yet. Sure she gets red eyes during battles every once in a while, but that could be anything in the narrative. 2) What are the beings that Saya fights every episode? There have been three so far with no explanation as to what they exactly are or why they exist in the first place. 3) Is Saya’s clumsy schoolgirl an act, or is it just luck that she happens to be so good at sword fighting? We don’t know this either.

This scene totally had a purpose. We just don't know it yet.
And the thing is that all of these questions could be answered in a single scene of dialogue. But such a scene is unimportant at the moment, because Saya needs to play with a stray dog.
I’m all for the “potential” argument, and heck there’s still quite a few episodes in the series to actually use said potential, however I’m not seeing it put to good use in these opening episodes. Some sort of introduction to an overarching plot would be nice, or any sort of plot at all really. The only reason I have to continue with this show is because it’s an I.G show with CLAMP’s help, and my loyalty is enough to keep me watching. I’m just hoping that I’m not going to be disappointed down the line. Fingers crossed.
