Kamisama no Memochou – Episode 04

Ahh now this is interesting. A full story that was not split into two episodes, so I wasn’t forced to wait until the next episode is released to watch a “to be continued”. Always fun! And it also had two different plot lines going on at the same time! Well double trouble!

You better hide your kids, hide your wife, hide your kids, hide your wife...

Obviously though, I have to nitpick the fact that one of the episode plotlines is a completely “FOR FANSERVICE” plotline of no real significance. Kamisama seems to have a habit of lightly sprinkling fanservice here and there in the previous episodes, without going to the same lengths of shows like Mayo Chiki or YuruYuri to show them.

Okay let's be honest here guys. Does anyone really think that such a small towel can hold such massive milk jugs? I think not. *Sips tea*

But it’s the other plotline with the secretive sunglasses man that I enjoyed watching. It’s just the sort of interesting plot that I like seeing. I also like the fact that I totally called the ending of said plotline from a bajillion miles away, but you know.

"Dear sister, by the time you read this I will be dead. This is how I think it’s going to happen…"

Again, though we see how much the show likes to focus less on Alice and more on its supporting cast – which is the bomb, by the way – not many other shows do this, and I’m really liking that this one does. Minli, who I wouldn’t have put on the top of the supporting cast list, was the focus of today’s episode. Not that I believe the character is unimportant, but if someone had a knife to my throat before the start of this episode, she would not have been the first character I mentioned when asked who the supporting characters for this show are. Not that such a situation would happen anytime soon, but you get the point. (See what I did there? Knife, get the…point! HAHAHAHAHAhahahaha….yeah okay, moving on.)

Apparently she had the same idea I had. Or this is a sign saying that she will kill me, either or.

If the episode on its own tells us anything (not plot related), it’s that the production studio and the writers specifically know how to handle a one-episode story without having to stretch it out to 45 minutes as episode one did. Which is a great comfort, because I’m already on record saying that Kamisama no Memochou has some of the best writing of the season, and it would suck if the writers of the best show of the season didn’t even know how to pace a 20-minute episode properly.

Her mouth reminds me of Kermit the Frog for some reason...hrm...

Then I would just have to sit here and look stupid for the rest of the season. Joyous.
