Mass Effect (Part One)

You have a nerd who is half confident at his gaming abilities crossed with him being a large fan of Science Fiction, commenting while playing a very story heavy TPS-RPG. What could possibility go wrong? (Hint: Alot)

    Mass Effect got really popular all of a sudden. I finally got around to playing it, and now two people I follow have started Let’s Plays.

    And now, a running commentary.

    ?:?? – FemShep is Best Shep!

    ?:?? – Your history and psych profile affect your starting Paragon/Renegade scores, as well as certain conversations.

    4:05 – And now I want to play X-Wing and Tie Fighter again.

    6:10 – Huh. You picked a lot of the same options as I did. I customized Shepard’s face a bit more, though.

    17:12 – I don’t really like Ashley either. The whole xenophobia thing I heard about didn’t get too pronounced in my playthrough, but as I was playing FemShep and romancing Liara, I’d have felt weird killing off Kaidan. Says a lot for the strength of the story.

    19:50 – Equipment is, by default, bound to the “i” key. You know, for “inventory.”

    21:55 – As Vanguard, I have a feeling you’ll grow to love your biotic powers.

    23:50 – The Paragon option tends to be the top one on the right side of the dialogue wheel, and the bottom one tends to be the Renegade option.

    26:15 – I don’t remember the “Fatigue” bar. Then again, I don’t think I ever ran the entire game.

    28:31 – I don’t blame you at all. Sadly, as you probably know, you don’t get another team member for a little while.

    35:44 – Watching this again, I think Manuel might have seen the Beacon’s vision.

    Awww, I was singing along with “They’re coming to take me away” and was disappointed when you stopped :( .

    Glee! You’re doing Mass Effect? I haven’t played it, but I did play both Dragon Ages and really enjoyed them. I’m interested in what you think of Mass Effect. I may comment again once I actually watch the thing, but for now, I’ll just be excited. I like your letting off steams.

    Great Let’s Play Arkada.:-) I have yet to play any of the Mass Effect-games, but after watching you play it, I really want to try it myself. Keep up the great work.
    Also: I have no sympathy for Nihlus. When a guy you’re supposed to know shows up at a place where he’s not supposed to be, during an attack, and he looks all borgified, and you turn your back at him… Then you are pretty much begging to be killed.:P There is clearly no IQ-test needed to become a Spectre.XD

    Do you not like Ashley because of her slight xenophobia? It’s really not that bad she doesn’t hate aliens or think they’re lesser, she just thinks each species should mind their own business because when push comes to shove everyone will be out for themselves.

    Or like me did you simply not like her because she was boring? :)

    The reason you don’t fly into the central glowy thing in the Mass Relays is because that’s the Element Zero core. It may be all glowy and awesome, but it’s mostly *solid matter*. Flying through that would lead to a quick game over.

    Hmm… since Kaidan and Ashley will be back in ME3, there might be a bit more character development. I admit, I’m not crazy about Ashley either, but I’m going to wait and see how the latest sequel will treat her and Kaidan.
