Finally, a review from month of waiting.

  • JesuOtaku

Well, remember he’s on a dial-up connection…took a long time to convert and upload his data, I’d imagine! =D

    O.O
How wonderfully science-fictiony! Loved the review, Ark, and I have to admit, I sort of drifted through Ghost in the shell when it was on television, mostly because it really didn’t seem like something I’d be into… but I do feel like I should give it a try after seeing this review.

I still have reservations about LAIN though…

I <3 this series. This movie is great, but to me the later series are better. Can't wait to hear you opinion on them

  • AceofOpus

First of all glad to see you back Ark, hope the move wasn’t too too stressful. Secondly we need to promote the hell out of D2 so that the add revenue from the site can get Ark at least a cheap DSL line.

  • Destron D-69

Gits:SAC will forever be one of the cards I play in the “reboot/remake” debates that pop up every now and then. As much as I love the movies today, the series does the job a lot better.

which it should given how much more of it there is – good to have you up and running again Ark.

love to hear how and/or if you string the series and movies together.

sadly disappointed by no raspy “I belong to Nobody!” but hey… Destron’s my name not yours lol

Another good review there Ark, nice and concise. Although I would have appreciated a bit more exploration into the themes the movie brings up, beggars can’t be choosers. I look forward to your views on Stand Alone Complex. It’s nice to have you back.

First off Ark, how exactly do you “dirtect” something? O_o

Secondly, I have to say that the very first Ghost in the Shell movie is the ONLY Mamoru Oshii film that I don’t completely despise. That having been said, I still had trouble finishing it, due to the reasons of it still being too slow, not being able to “get” it, and overall just not being in the mood at the time.

Perhaps I should go back and actually FINISH the movie sometime, but it’s not really that high on my priorities list.

The second movie was shit. Plain and simple. Doesn’t matter if the CG was gorgeous or if the music was sublime. Putting glitter and sparkles on a turd may make it a pretty turd, but still a turd nonetheless.

The series, on the other hand, is probably my third favorite anime of all time. And that includes Solid State Society. Ironic, isn’t it? ^_^

    @SpacemanHardy
No I think the word for that is “insipid”. Just a guess though. <3

I do NOT lack taste. While I despise Oshii, I am a huge fan of Satoshi Kon’s and Hayao Miyazaki’s films.

Those two prove that you can have a thought-provoking, cerebral film, and still have things HAPPENING in it. As opposed to Oshii, who would just as soon leave the camera pointed at a wall for two hours.

Thank you Ark! You reignited my fandom for you! Finally you are reviewing Ghost in the Shell! AWESOME! Weeeeeeeeh.

I actually haven’t seen the movie, but I liked the series a lot, I’m looking forward to your review of it. Cool to see that the movie is interesting too though.

Lol, I loved going to a Q&A with the voice actor for the Major in Stand Alone Complex. Ask her about how much of her dialogue she understood in that show, she’ll tell ya that she was looking stuff up on wikipedia regularly and still not having a clue about what she was saying most of the time.

Made it difficult to watch when I was still living with parents, and they would walk by and see 5 minutes of the show and go “What the hell is he talking about?” and all you can say is “Kinda hard to explain, got a couple hours after the episode is done? Every question I answer will make you ask another one.”

Hmmm….. Torrent Search: Arkada. One Seed. Start download. Don’t worry Ark, I have DSL, shouldn’t take too long to get your downloaded.

The strange thing I rea;ised about the dub is how much better SAC’s dub is better than the movie 0_o I would say it ranks as one of the best dubs out there and is 10 times better than the Japanese.

But yeah….I have watch every GitS movie/series twice and I dont get everything…..still really good though.

Can’t wait for your review of SAC. ^^
