    I’ll probably give it a shot.
    Egh, “Håll om mig” has really become redundant to me, honestly, be in a car or outside on a summer ago and this song would stalk you.

    Excelent review and funny as hell.:D It looks like I really need to watch this show, if only to prove my manliness. Maybe I can make my sister buy it with me.:-)

    Are you truly reviewing Baccano! next? Because that would be awesome. I bought the box-set as a late christmas-gift for myself and can’t wait for it to get here.:-)
    But where did you get that awesome hat? I need a hat like that.:D

    Yay! Also, lol on invoking the guitar ninjas meme.

    While Mytho may be the main character of the story, Duck is the main character of the meta-story.

    For Cardcaptor Sakura, yeah, it’s okay, but considering it’s just formulaic and 70-some episodes long, I don’t blame you for not wanting to review it. I got so sick seeing of Sakura’s dream sequence every episode until it happened. Or in the second half Tohya trying to tell Yukito the truth but being interrupted by that girl EVERY EPISODE.

    Wow Ark, when you state your not going to do something, you show it. So that means you will be reviewing something that doesn’t look or is girly next time.

    I think that song at the end in the AMV is actually Swedish, not Russian. I came across it on youtube that someone did for the Nordic Countries in APH a few days ago, and it has it in both the Language, and an english translation. But yeah, it is awsome; despite how creepy it is too me as it is some kind of love song. But I blame the APH Nordic Country fan pics for that.

    Great Review and I might want to put this on my list of Anime to watch due to this and JO’s review.

    By the way, which providence in Canada do you live in? Just kidding, I only ask because of a WWII game I play and I’m preparing for the day that I bring Canada under German control.

    Great review, Ark. I’m thinking I’ll add this to the (long) list of anime I will eventually get to watching.

    Also, AWESOME! Can’t wait for the Baccano! review!

    (And what exactly was he saying was better than Princess Tutu towards the end? I couldn’t hear it properly)

    You know what other magical girl show real men watch? Nanoha (at least season 2 and 3). Past the loli fanservice it’s got a lot of homages to mecha show and characters. For example, Signum from season 2 is voiced by Kaori Shimizu, who does voice work for the Super Robot Wars series of games. Also Subaru is season three is a clear tribute to the super robot GaoGaiGar, from her transformation sequence to her attacks.

    I really love this series. I watched in 2 days after JO reviewed it a while back. Anyone who is still skeptical about this series and its girlie-ness just needs to suck it up and watch it. It’ll surprise you. XD

    This show was super great. I have always liked classical music so for me, this was a total nerdgasm. Good story-shojo trappings+some of the best classical music ever made=Win.

    ANYway, one of my favorite reviews of yours so far. Still not sure I wanna watch PT, but you guys are helping.

    I gave this series a 3.5/5 stars. It honestly deserves higher, but my god I was not happy watching this series. I really had high expectations, and it just didn’t work for me. I thought this review was quite spot on in many places though, and gives a good idea of what the male audience should expect from it.

    I didn’t love the animation, but sound is definitely epic (Actually, it seems like most of JO’s 4 stars series have great music in particular).

    Oh, and on a personal level Revolutionary Girl Utena, Card Captor Sakura and Angelic Layer I enjoyed more than Tutu (even though it’s probably better then all those combined).

    AND… That AMV is the best Tutu thing I’ve ever seen for sure, and I also saw it beforehand and it got my synced up.

    What’s odd is this new and improved version is the only one available at most places I know of now, actually, which seems to contradict what you said in your review. Incidentally, unfortunately, while the box art is way better, the box itself isn’t as nice and is stack-packed, which is somewhat annoying.

    Wow Ark, that review kicked ass. Princess Tutu has been on my to watch list ever since JO’s review of it, but I think I’ll bump it up now. Really I’m just waiting till I have the money to get ahold of the dub. I’m in the middle of Hibane Renmei (thanks to your review) and Casshern Sins (hows that for some diversity?).

    So this is at least the second time, to my memory, that you have said in the credits that you picked up an anime because of a really cool AMV you saw. Is that something you do often or is those just a couple of isolated incidents?

    To be honest, it’s kind of a catch 22 there with the box art, isn’t it? Either you’re seen with the old art and people will think you’re buying lolicon porn or the new box art and think you’re a sissy for buying a magical girl anime.

    @ MadScientist: Ok so Im not perfect, although I will admit that I have never seen that particular cover before on this side of the border yet. Hrmmmm

    @ Teh Jrn: Actually I’ve said it three times so far: Haibane, Kanon, and Tutu. But they are isolated incidents. Those are the only ones that I have watched because of an AMV currently, but Im sure it will happen more in the future.

    Pretty funny review you had there. Glad to know that there are other manly man out there who can watch tutu, so far I’ve convinced other guys to watch it (2 so far). The only thing I can say right now is, Where the heck did you get THAT box set? I’ve never seen a cover like that before. In all honesty I think it is way better then the one I got.

    Not saying I got it from rightstuf (Best Buy) but that is the one I got. I’m honestly clueless on how you got that cover. Also how were the disc put inside? In the box set I got, all the disc were stacked on top of each (most ghetto way I’ve seen it done for box sets)

    Great review man. I saw JO’s review of the show but I didn’t think it was enough to make me go watch it (despite the 4 star rating). But I think your review finally sold me on this though. I’ll probably end up checking it out. So does the ending mean that you’re reviewing Baccano next? Haha. Whatever you’re planning I’m looking forward to it.

    Nice review, maybe I should check this series out. It keeps getting good grades. Also, thanks for showing that AMV, its awesome although the language is swedish, not russian. Nanne Grönvall is one of my favorite singers and “håll om mig” is one of my all time favorite swedish songs.

    Ah, FINALLY someone brought up THE COVER. THANK YOU GAWD.

    Whoever designed that cover should be shot. Seriously, it’s like they were trying to cater it to the blood and boobs crowd…which Tutu is not for. The original separate volume releases have a very fluffy look to them, but a reverse-able cover that hints at the much darker aspect of the story…without looking like porn. (Well, that picture on the cover of the box set is from one of those dark covers…but just one.) And despite the fact that Rue is my favorite character, she still is not the main and shouldn’t be on the cover.

    NOW, once I can get my chance to get class credit for it, I will be designing a new cover for the box set. THE COVER WILL ACTUALLY BE DESIGNED BY SOMEONE WHO KNOWS AND LOVES THE SERIES AND WHAT ANGLE TO USE TO APPEAL TO ITS PROSPECTIVE AUDIENCE, HOORAY!!

    …I REALLY had to get that out of my system. ^^;

    I love your review. I saw this DVD box set on Amazon but passed it by, but when I had watched your review I decided that as a fan of the magic girl genre this was different enough and interesting to have in my collection so I picked it up. This is a cute anime which manages to be a bit out of the ordinary and I appreciate that.
