Usagi Drop

VersaTELity is totally a word….that I just made up….be quiet :\

If you were kind enough to watch all the way to the end, I left a little audio hint to the next video. Can you guess what I’m doing next?

Usagi Drop was my favourite show of this year so far. It’s a brilliant, heartwarming piece of art and especially Rin is just adorable. I like this little frog :-) I really hope for a second season, following the plot of the manga. OK, the conclusion is quite…unusual, but I can’t say, it is wrong. Things like that happen and it doesn’t makes the ones involved worse persons….

The Review…It was a tricky one. It is really hard to tell a lot about this one without spoiling and you solved quite good, Ark. But one question: Is it just me, or is the sound a little(about half of a second) off?

Next review, Time of Eve/Eve no Jikan :D
    Thank you SO much~

And, as usual, fantastic review. I really loved this show, and I think you captured the tone perfectly without spoiling it for others who haven’t seen it yet. Can’t wait for the next video!

Good review. Love this anime but along with other shows that are impossible to watch without smiling like Hanasaku Iroha and Working, I have very little possibility of getting any of my friends to watch it no matter how highly I speak of it (this also applies especially to romance anime like Kimi ni Todoke, or pretty much anything non action) because unfortunately my friends are completely closed minded with anime.

When you have a friend that whenever you recommend something says “All I have time to watch is Naruto.” yet still manages to rewatch all of Yu-Gi-Oh, Digimon and catch up on Bleach on a whim then STILL insists they have no time to watch anything recommended to them, it can be a bit of a bitch to make recommendations.

My word, Ark! I know you always try to be rather theatrical in your reviews, but you were in rare form with this one! Like a Shakespearean thespian sprinkles with a bit of Harold Lloyd. By far your best review to date!

Glad to see you speak so highly of what has quickly become one of my favorite animes. This show is an absolute joy to watch, especially as a follow-up to an action-packed bloody show like Deadman Wonderland, as my anime club used to watch it (before Crunchyroll took DW down, thank them SOOOOO much >_M). Rin in particular is one of the best main characters I’ve seen since maybe Holo: Childish innocence mixed perfectly with intelligence & maturity far beyond her years.

I too am a little disappointed to hear that it’s only 11 episodes long as I too would have loved to have seen more. But, as you mention, the manga does continue from where this section of the anime leaves off, so maybe there’s room for a Season 2? Here’s hoping.

Also, Production I.G. made it. Production I.G. does not make crap. Some of their shows might not be as mind-blowing as others, but they do not make crap. That alone should be recommendation enough.

So, in short, thank you so very much for a thoroughly enjoyable performance in the form of a wonderful review of a wonderful show. I’ll be eagerly awaiting your next video.

And to those others who took the time to read this comment: Why the heck are you wasting your valuable Usagi Drop-viewing time reading my prattling? Seriously, go watch Usagi Drop… like, right now! I don’t care if your at work, in class, in the delivery room with your pregnant wife/girlfriend; If you have time to watch this review video & read the comments, you have time to watch Usagi Drop. You will not regret it.

When he said “How can you not love that face.” I was like why, thank you cuz he was looking at me in the vid :)

  • Ginn

I really do love this series. I hope someone licenses it at some point.

  • Brightestdream

I’ve never read more than what has been currently released over here in the great white north (first 4 volumes, the entire length of the anime) and I have heard that the manga’s ending is…. creepy. That is why I will never pursue the manga beyond the time skip. I want it to be cute ‘n simple. :) So, if they change everything that supposedly happens after the end of the anime, I will say sure to a second season, otherwise. No. No. No.

I love this anime so much though, and if it gets licensed (IT BETTER!!!!! RAWR!) I will show it to my mom and dad, because it will surely make them cry! They’d love it. :)

Anyways, great review Ark for a great show. :D

  • Socce3r6

Heck yes! Time of Eve is next! I’ve been waiting for one forever! :D

Awesome review, you always make me interested in watching shows. (Baccano, Kamisama no Memochou, etc.) Thank you!

I know I suggested this in your Air review (or… one of your old reviews…. don’t remember), but I know of an unlicensed anime that you might enjoy. I love it to pieces and I find it to be rather EPIC!!! Mostly cause of the opening theme, but the entire thing is still awesome. The show is Umineko no Naku Koro ni. It’s based on the video game by 07th Expansion and animated by Studio Deen. The same places where Higurashi no Naku Koro ni come from. It’s one of my favorites, and I would LOVE to see what your thoughts are. Take a look pretty please?

Personally this is probably not a anime I am going to watch. I like stories about something paranormal so if a show do not have some fantasy, science fiction or horror element I tend to lose interest. However this do look beautifully animated and it is definitely something different.

My mother when she was a girl had someone on her street where the uncle where much younger than his nephew. He used to go around and get into places where he normally would not have been allowed to go for when they asked him, do you have an adult with you he said. I am here with my uncle. Well it was not a lie, but the uncle was another kid several years younger.

  • Connore

rin looks really adorable but uchio is by far the cutest and most adorable character in all of anime

  • http://www.facebook.com/SebastianBravoMonardes Sebastian Bravo

so I watched the show, and i loved it… my thoughts are that it’s really well balanced. I specially love how we see daikichi turn into a parent. Rin is a good character but, the thing is that i can´t see any significant devolpment during the series. we start with one Rin, we end up with the same Rin. Daikichi is somewhat different, we start with Daikichi the single, hard working man and we end with Daikichi the loving father. that to me was the cherry on top of this wonderful show.

I loved the artwork because it gave a sence of simplicity of life. it was smooth and colorful, like a beautiful sunny day. the length of the show was okay, I mean 11 episodes was alright, beacuse it showed precisely what we needed to see.

i would like a second season, but only if it is a “based on” original writing from another director, because i did not like the plot twist of the second part of the story. i might add that japanese writers are the world champions of screwing up a perfectly good story.

again i thank you for showing me this wonderful anime. keep up the good job and merry christmas from Chile

  • Blade

I laughed my butt off with the “Believe it!” cut.

  • Magictoaster

Well, this anime is finally getting licensed…by NISA. Which means no English dub.
